Book A Session with Tarah Taylor
I know this may be surprising but, me, Tarah Taylor, the founder of Queen Algebra, once struggled in Mathematics. I did not understand math the way my high school teachers taught it, so I took matters into my own hands. By reading my text books and receiving additional assistance through a summer college preparatory program, I taught myself math. Despite the difficulties and having a math tutor throughout high school, I graduated with a degree in Mathematics from the University of Pittsburgh in 2004.
I always had a passion to help others understand math. I could understand where many of my classmates were confused. I started tutoring during my freshman year of college and worked as a College Algebra Teacher’s Assistant. My first job was teaching Algebra II at the same college preparatory program that I attended while in high school.
Over the last ten years I have taught Algebra 1, 2, Geometry, and SAT Math Prep in Public schools, Charter schools, and Educational Programs. Additional experience includes lesson planning for the Schenley Heights Community Development and Malaika Learning Centers in Pittsburgh, PA. I find joy in seeing the “light bulb click” expression on my students’ face when I am teaching them math and they finally understand it. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.
